On the west/central side of Wisconsin’s north woods, Hayward is the Lakeside Vacation Destination. Over the years it has drawn Chicago gangsters, most notably Scarface himself, Al Capone. Hayward has many resorts, and is known for world record muskies from the Lake Chippewa Flowage and is the nation’s lumberjack capital. You can get a cabins right at the waters edge, a vacation home on a ski or snowmobile trail.
